Most CPE is passive — listen, check a box, move on.
But at The Smarter Accountant, we do things differently.
Each CPE class includes 50 minutes of practical, focused teaching plus a workbook to help you immediately apply what you’ve learned — because Smarter Accountants don’t just learn, they grow.
About this month’s CPE course:
Prioritizing isn’t just about deciding what to do first — it’s about making smarter decisions with your time, your attention, and your brain. In this practical and eye-opening course, you’ll learn a brain-based approach to prioritization that goes far beyond traditional task lists or urgency-driven workdays.
Led by Dawn Goldberg, CPA, professional certified coach and author of The Smarter Accountant, this session introduces Smarter Prioritization — a method that blends neuroscience with strategic decision-making. You’ll discover why your brain gets overwhelmed by too many choices, why everything starts to feel urgent, and how to shift into a calmer, clearer way of working that supports your productivity instead of draining it.
This course is especially valuable for accountants who find themselves constantly putting out fires, struggling to stay ahead of deadlines, or ending the day feeling busy but not accomplished. You’ll walk away with a repeatable approach for focusing on high-impact work so you get more of the right things done — without working longer hours.
Participants will:
- Understand how the brain responds to urgency vs. importance
- Learn why traditional to-do lists often backfire and cause overwhelm
- Identify high-impact priorities that move the needle in meaningful ways
- Practice tools for reducing reactive mode and choosing with intention
- Discover how to plan your day based on cognitive load, focus, and desired emotions
- Build a prioritization process that supports sustainable success — especially during demanding periods
In order to be awarded the full credits, you must respond to three polling questions asked during the program.
Participants will earn 1.0 CPE credit
